After two weeks of virtual judging, the CT Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF) closed on Saturday with the awards ceremony, where all six of the top prizes in the senior (high school) category went to GHS students in the Honors Research Seminar Course, and two other first place prizes went to an eighth grader at EMS.
From March 16th to April 9th, EMS staff members will face off in a basketball contest. Students can cheer on the staff members during each round of play by making a donation to the American Heart Association. Make this donation at lunch by purchasing hearts for $1 each. This Friday, Dec. 4th, come to school in your PJs and bring a gift to support a great organization. On Friday, the SCA will be collecting toys and gifts for all ages for Kids in Crisis as well as cash donations for Yale New Haven Children's Hospital. EMS Art Students created some amazing Earth Art pieces from home in celebration of Earth Day 2020. Earth Art, also known as Land art, is an art movement that emerged in the 1960's and 1970's. Artists working in this genre used materials that they found in the natural environment to create sculptural forms.

A HUGE thank you to all who participated or attended the Student/Faculty Basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 20th. Both students and staff had a blast and over $950 dollars was raised so far for the American Heart Association! The AHA fundraising is continuing the week of Feb. 24th with 3-on-3 basketball tournaments and Hot Shot Shooting Competitions!
The EMS Annual Fall Book Fair is happening from November 11th-15th. Hours: 7:30am - 3:15pm (Mon-Thurs), 7:30am -12:00 (Fri). Students visit with their Language Arts class. Here is the Book Fair Class Schedule for the week. (Twenty-five percent of all proceeds are used to purchase new books for the Media Center.). PARENT VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED!
