SCA: Spirit Week June 10th to 14th.
Thursday 13th: Color Wars ( 6th – Green, 7th – Blue and 8th – Red)
Friday 14th: Flag Day

This will culminate on Friday with the SCA's yearly Flag Day fundraiser for RAMP kids which supports the backpack snack program for kids in Martin County, Kentucky

This area of the United States suffers from extreme poverty.
· 50% of children live in poverty in Martin County, Kentucky.
· 70% of children in this county receive free lunch at school, and often times this is the only meal these children will eat all day.
· Many families do not have food at home to eat on the weekend.
The backpack snack program supports these families with food to take home from school.

LGBTQ+ Pride Month is commemorated in the month of June each year in order to honor the 1969 Stonewall uprising in New York City where patrons and supporters of the Stonewall Inn resisted and stood up to LGBTQ+ persecution.  This uprising marked the beginning of a movement to outlaw discrimination against LGBTQ+ people. By recognizing Pride, EMS will continue to promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students.  Look out for other ways to celebrate PRIDE and support Eastern's GSA this month in June.

THE GIVE BACK CLUB and a 7th grade student are having a SCHOOL SUPPLY Drive for the Family and Children's Agency in Stamford. We are looking for new or gently used school supplies from now until the end of school on June 18th.  In addition to the donation box in the front hallway, on the last 2 days of school, we will be coming to your homerooms. We will collect school supplies that you may have in your backpack that you have not used for the agency.  We will take things such as sticky notes, pencils, erasers, and unused notebooks.

Dear EMS Parents/Guardians,

We are excited to announce that Fall Sports Registration is now open for the upcoming season! To streamline the registration process and better serve our student-athletes, we are utilizing a system called Final Forms. This online platform has proven to be highly successful at Greenwich High School over the past two years, and at EMS this winter and spring.

If your student athlete is interested in trying out for Boys A & B Soccer, Girls Soccer, Girls Field Hockey or Coed Volleyball this fall, please create an account/log into Final Forms and register. All students who wish to try out MUST have a current physical uploaded to Final Forms. The only form accepted is the CT-HAR.  If you have an account already and have registered for past sports seasons in Final Forms, you MUST log in and select a sport for the fall season.  Also, make sure that your student(s) are in the "Green" status. If they are not "Green" this means that you or your student(s) are missing something and will not be eligible for tryouts. The deadline for registering for Fall Sports is September 3, 2024. No registration will be accepted after this date. If you have any questions regarding registration, please email

*Please register early, as it will take 24-48 hours for the Health Office Staff to process your registration (over the summer, it may take longer). You may only register for one sport each season.  There is no cost to register. You can register and then decide not to try out, but you can not decide to try out after the registration deadline!

*Students are expected to make ALL tryout days, unless otherwise directed by the coach.  Students must be able to make ALL 4 days per week of practices/games/matches.  This is a 4 day per week commitment (no Wednesdays), and students must be available until 5pm (possibly later for away game/match days).  The games, matches and practices are in the process of being scheduled and you can check the live link above for updates.

**If a student does not own equipment for the given sport, it can be provided (other than cleats). Students can store their equipment in the locker room before school. All students should come with a water bottle, and dress accordingly for the weather.  If you have any sports specific questions, please contact EMS Athletic Director, Craig Knop:

The GPS Athletic Departments have partnered with Final Forms, an online forms and data management service, to manage athletic participation.  All new and returning student-athletes must register with a parent/guardian through Final Forms prior to tryouts or participation.

Click on the Parent Playbook for directions on how to register in FinalForms. If you require any support during the process, scroll to the page bottom in FinalForms and click “Use Support”.

Initial registration will take 15-20 minutes. Registering returning athletes can be completed in 5-10 minutes as FinalForms saves data season-to-season and year-to-year. Parents should have information for physician, dentist, emergency contacts, insurance (if applicable), and a current State of CT Health Assessment Record (HAR) form ready for the registration process.  The HAR can be found on GPS Health Forms and Immunizations.

A student athlete must have a current State of CT Health Assessment Record (HAR) form on file with the Eastern Middle School Health Office prior to participation.  For sports participation, this form is good for 13 months and must be valid at the time of tryouts and throughout the season. We are no longer using the separate Sports Physical form.
