INTERNATIONAL DAY:

1. Spain: Spain is famous for its lively festivals and colorful celebrations! One fun fact is that La Tomatina, held in the town of Buñol, is a festival where people throw tomatoes at each other for fun. It's considered the world's largest food fight! 

2. Dominican Republic (DR): The Dominican Republic is known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant culture! One fun fact is that baseball is the most popular sport in the Dominican Republic, and many Major League Baseball players come from this country!

3. Albania: Albania is a country rich in history and natural beauty! DId you know that Albania has over 300 days of sunshine per year, making it a great destination for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring ancient ruins!

CREATIVE WRITING CLUB:  The next meeting of the Creative Writing Club will be Tuesday, April 30th in room 221 with high school student Charlotte Marcussen.  New members welcome!

THE HISTORICAL BOARD GAMES CLUB's April meetings are: Monday, April 8th and Monday, April 29th in room 206.

Help the Environmental Action Club collect bottle caps for Soundwaters.  Beginning Tuesday 3/12 and running through Earth Month (April) there will be collection boxes in the two cafeterias.  Please drop all plastic bottle caps into one of the collection boxes.  You can also collect them at home and bring them in batches to room 201.  There will be a collection box there as well.

 2024 Greenwich Youth Conservation Program! 
Any Greenwich resident who will be 14 or 15 years old this summer is eligible to apply. Application deadline by April 26th.

Students who are accepted will spend two weeks in the summer working with a group of peers to keep Greenwich green, earn some money and have some fun!

GYCP offers teens their first job opportunity to learn teamwork and practical life skills while enhancing the town’s environment and create a forum for teens to meet and learn about their peers who come from a variety of backgrounds and different parts of town.

Program participants receive a stipend. You must apply online through this application link. Applications are due by April 26th! Students will complete a group interview scheduled for early May. Final selections will be made in Late May. A mandatory family orientation will be scheduled in June for participants and guardians.

2024 Session Dates:
Session 1: June 24-July 5 (closed July 4th)
Session 2: July 8-July 18
Session 3: July 22-August 1
Session 4: August 5-August 15

Please Note: Teens must be available for all days within their session (9 days). Teens who are flexible with session dates have a greater chance of being selected for GYCP.

ATTENTION EASTERN MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE ENTHUSIASTS!
If you enjoy science and are considering pursuing your interest in science or the other STEM fields, consider participating in the Greenwich Middle School STEM Fair.  This event is also a celebration of creativity and curiosity - both critical for successful research -  and is sponsored by the First Selectman's Youth Commission.  

The STEM Fair will be on Saturday, May 18 (8:30 to 12:00). This fair is open to any student in Greenwich in grades 6, 7, or 8.  Students who are interested in participating in the STEM Fair should register for the fair by Friday, April 12. You will have the opportunity to showcase your work, learn how to defend your ideas to others, and compete for prizes.  For more information see the attached flyer where you can find information, including the participant guide

THE SCIENCE TEAM is a club that is aimed at preparing students for the National Science Bowl competition.  All levels of science students are welcome.  The club will meet after school in Room 106 on the First and Third Monday of every month.  For more information join the google classroom. YWCA 6TH GRADE GIRLS CIRCLE RETURNS TO EASTERN!

Girls Circle is a structured support group for girls and youth who identify with female development. It is designed to build self-esteem, resiliency and to promote positive connections through group sharing, activities, and games. The group will begin in November.  If you are interested or would like to find out more, please contact

EMS GIVES BACK CLUB: How can I make a difference in my school? How can I make a difference in someone else's life? Consider joining the EMS GIVE BACK CLUB!  The club will promote kindness and caring in our school environment.  Our meetings will be based on the Greenwich Public School District Norms Be Here, Be Safe, Be Honest, Care for Self and Others, and Let Go and Move On.  If you are interested in joining our club, we meet on Wednesdays from 7:30-7:55am in the small cafeteria. During this time we make posters and plan events like book drives, kindness week, and other charity events. Sponsored by Mrs. Moore

GSA MEETS ON THURSDAYS AFTER SCHOOL
The GSA is a club which was created to spread awareness, become an ally and advocate for the LGTBQ+ community.  The GSA meets on Thursdays afterschool until 3:45 PM in Room 110A . New members are always welcome!  Please contact Mrs. Friedman with any questions!  Michellee_friedman@greenwich.k12.ct.us

INTRAMURALS OFFERINGS: February 27th – June 7th 2024 (session 2)  **Activities and dates subject to change**

The Intramural Program will be on hold from 3/25 - 4/1 and will resume on Tuesday 4/2/24

*No late buses on Fridays!

-No tryouts/sign up/forms/equipment are needed!!

-Time: 2:50-4:00 pm (Bus riders are able to ride the 4:10 pm late bus)

-Unfortunately, there are no longer late buses on Fridays.

-Students need a pass from a teacher to enter intramurals from 2:55-3:10 pm and no students will be accepted after 3:10pm.

-Students should  plan to stay for the entire duration.

-All intramurals initially meet on the boys locker room side of the gym.
