EMS BOOK FAIR IS happening this WEEK!

The EMS Fall Book Fair is taking place all week in the Media Center.  All students will have the opportunity to visit with their English class.  There will be a great selection of books to choose from!  Cash, credit cards, Apple Pay, and checks are accepted.  Twenty percent (20%) of what is sold goes back to the EMS Media Center for the purchase of new books for the library!  Please refer to the Book Fair English Class Sign Up to find out when your English class is scheduled to visit!

THE MULTICULTURAL CLUB will have a meeting on Tuesday November 11th right after school in room 217.  Come share something about your own culture! We will play some Thanksgiving Trivia games and share a cultural snack! Any questions see Señora Calderon in room 217. See you there!

MATHLETES:

Tryouts for this year’s MATHCOUNTS Chapter Competition — which will take place on January 31, 2026, at Fairfield University — will be held after school on Monday, November 17, in Room 106.

The tryout will finish around 4:10 PM, so please arrange a ride home ahead of time.

Neighbor to Neighbor NEEDS EMS StudentS 

Date: Monday, November 17th 

Time: 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM 

Location: Large Cafeteria, Eastern Middle School. 

Neighbor to Neighbor is organizing a community service event at Eastern Middle School, where students will assemble donation bags filled with rice and beans. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get involved in giving back to the community and supporting the Neighbor to Neighbor Greenwich Community. All students are welcome and encouraged to participate. This event is open to everyone who wishes to contribute their time and efforts to a good cause. Using your school email please fill out this Google form.   This form will also be available in this Friday’s Gator News and Gatorbytes, which are sent to parents via email. We look forward to seeing many students at the event, helping to make a positive impact in our community!

BOARD GAMES CLUB - Meets Every Tuesday! 

The Board Games Club meets every Tuesday until the late bus in room 206 or room 213, alternating rooms each week.  Come with friends and play an old favorite or try a new game! Sponsored by Mrs. O’Connor and Mrs. Gale.

THE GSA RETURNS TO EMS ON THURSDAYS! ðŸŒˆ

The GSA is a club which was created to spread awareness, become an ally and advocate for the LGTBQIA+ community.  The GSA meets on Thursdays afterschool until 3:45 PM.  We will meet in Room 110A.  New members are always welcome!  Please contact Mrs. Friedman with any questions!  Michellee_friedman@greenwich.k12.ct.us

 YWCA 6TH GRADE GIRLS CIRCLE RETURNS TO EASTERN!

Girls Circle is a structured support group for girls and youth who identify with female development. It is designed to build self-esteem, resiliency and to promote positive connections through group sharing, activities, and games. The group will take place on a weekly basis during the school day. JOIN THE EMS GIVE BACK CLUB

Open to any students who are interested in joining our community, helping the school with fundraisers and events, or people who just want to get INVOLVED! 

This club meets in the large cafeteria weekly on Wednesdays starting at 7:45,  but you can come whenever you or your bus gets here.

What We Do

· Community service projects
· Spreading of Positivity
· Decorate School Bulletin Boards
· Open to New Ideas- Club is run by the students

EMS Winter Sports (Basketball) Registration Announcement: 

We are excited to announce that Winter (Basketball) Sports Registration is now open for the upcoming season!

Registration must be completed EACH SEASON!

Winter Sports:  Boys A & B Basketball, Girls A & B Basketball (B teams are open to 6th & 7th grade only) 

*All teams will hold tryouts and likely need to make cuts.

Try-out Dates: December 1st, 2nd, 4th, & 5th 2025 (Subject to change) *Players are expected to attend all 4 days of tryouts, unless otherwise directed by the coach. 

Season: December 8th, 2025 - February 6th, 2026

Deadline for Registration: November 26th, 2025 (No Exceptions)

Schedule: EMS Basketball Schedule 2025/26  (games and practices will be added throughout November)

Commitment: 4 days per week (No Wednesdays). Days/times will vary based on the game schedule & having the early vs. the late practice. Practice times will be 3:00-4:15PM or 4:15-5:30PM. Players need to be available until 6:00PM for away games or when their team has the second game, on days when there are back to back games. 

Transportation: Students must have their own transportation home after practices and games. Buses will be provided for away games, and will take students there and back to EMS.

All students who wish to try out MUST have a CURRENT physical uploaded in Final Forms. If you uploaded the CT-HAR is past seasons, please make sure that it is *CURRENT. *Physicals are good for 13 months from the date of the actual physical exam. The only form accepted is the CT-HAROnce you register, we encourage you to log back in after a week or so to make sure that your child is in "Green" status. If you are not "Green" this means that you are missing something and will not be eligible for tryouts.

INTRAMURALS: One of the main objectives of intramurals is to provide every student with the opportunity to play and enjoy various sports and leisure activities, under the supervision of a certified staff member. Students can come when they choose. There are no try-outs. Basic instruction is given. The primary focus is student centered and it is purely recreational.  All activities are free!

Session 1 activities, other than the Fitness Center, are weather dependent. 
- Time: 3:05-4:05pm.
- Bus riders are able to ride the 4:15pm late bus.
- Students need a pass from a teacher to enter intramurals from 3:10 - 3:15 pm.
- No students will be accepted after 3:15 pm.
- Students should plan to stay for the entire duration.
- All intramurals initially meet on the boys locker room side of the gym.
