Dear EMS Families,
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! I hope you had a satisfying and enriching summer. We are excited to welcome our students and families back for the new school year. At Eastern, our commitment to your child’s education is grounded in five guiding principles that shape everything we do:
- Collaborative Culture Focused on Learning and Growth: We believe in the power of teamwork and collaboration among students, teachers, and staff. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone is learning and growing together.
- Student-Centered and Responsive: Each child is unique, and we strive to meet their individual needs by providing a responsive and inclusive education that supports to their interests and abilities.
- Systems and Structures of Support: We have established effective systems and structures to ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed. From academic assistance to emotional well-being, we have resources in place to help your child thrive.
- Family Partnerships and Engagement: We value your involvement and partnership in your child’s education. By working together and keeping open lines of communication, we can enhance the learning experience and support our students more effectively.
- Relationships: Connectedness and Belonging: Creating a welcoming and connected community is at the heart of our school. We strive to build strong relationships and a sense of belonging among students, families, and staff
These principles informed our work last year and we have modified our bell schedule to provide all students at each grade level physical education every other day, additional time during lunch to allow students more time to eat and exercise outside, as the weather permits, and a homeroom period to allow students to begin homework or other academic requirements before the end of the school day.
Please take a moment to review the parent handbook, which contains important information about school policies, procedures, and resources available to your family. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, do not hesitate to reach out to us. While this letter highlights some of what is taking place at Eastern, we know that a large part of a child’s learning and development happens at home. We look forward to partnering together so we can prepare your child for a successful experience in middle school, high school, and beyond.
Sincerely,
Marc Guarino
