EMS Student Activities & Extra Help Guide 2024-25

Drama Club is open to all students who are interested in being on stage or are interested in backstage
theater production. Following the winter musical, the club will meet at least once a month. Look for
announcements! Sponsored by Ms. Badillo and Ms. Fama. (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
from 3:00-4:00 PM) - Auditorium

Eastern Voices is a select, auditioned choral ensemble open to all students. Sponsored by Mr. Kruk and Mr. Tracey.  (Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:15 AM) - Auditorium

An Art Ambassador is a leadership position helping to bring more art to the building. An Ambassador is defined as “a person who acts as a representative or promoter of a specified activity.” (Oxford Dictionary). The club will promote artistic expression by developing ways to get more art into the EMS community. Our meetings will take place on Thursday mornings starting at 7:30 in either Room 7 or 8 in the art room. Sponsored by Mrs. Cleary and Mrs. J. Smith

This club provides students the opportunity to have a positive impact on our school and local community.  The students in the club work together to select and plan projects using our school norms of:

Be Here, Be Safe,
Be Honest,
Care for Self and Others, and
Let Go and Move On.

Events we had last year include: Random Acts of Kindness Week, School Wide School Supplies Drive, Teacher Appreciation, and Reading to Elementary students.  If your child is looking for a way to get involved in our school and give back to others, please encourage them to join this club.  Our meeting time is Wednesday mornings from 7:30-7:55 AM in the Large Cafeteria.  Sponsored by Mrs. Moore.

Do you want to learn to invest and make money? Come to the first ever meeting of the EMS Investing Club!  We will meet in Room 6 from 3:00-3:45 PM. Dates to be decided. Sponsored by Mr. Patton

The GSA club was formed to spread awareness, become an ally and advocate for the LGTBQ+ community. Please join us if you are looking for connection and a safe welcoming place. Sponsored by Ms. Friedman (Thursdays after school until 3:45 PM) – Room 110A

The EMS Jazz Band is an auditioned, after school select music ensemble that meets on Tuesdays from 2:45-3:45 in the band room. Jazz ensemble performs in both the Winter and Spring concerts, and is open to music students in grades 6-8.  Sponsored by Ms. Brion.

How can I make a difference in my school? How can I make a difference in someone else's life? Consider joining Kindness Counts! The club will promote kindness and caring in our school environment.    Our meetings will be based on the Greenwich Public School District Norms Be Here, Be Safe, Be Honest, Care for Self and Others, and Let Go and Move On.    Further, we will use materials for our club from the National Random Acts of Kindness Organization, which is founded upon the powerful belief in kindness and dedicated to providing resources and tools that encourage acts of kindness.  Sponsored by Mrs. Moore

We will be meeting Tuesday Mornings from 7:30-8:00 in room 5. First meeting will be October 11th. See Mrs. Moore in the Counseling Office with any questions.

The Lego Robotics Club is a student-run group that creates a supportive environment for students to explore Lego Spike Prime. Sponsored by Ms. Wang (Thursdays after school until the late bus– exact meeting dates will be shared in morning announcements) – Room 125

The math club is open to any math student. We practice activities to prepare for the Mathcounts and AMC 8 competition. Sponsored by Mr. Lodato (Second and fourth Tuesday of every month) - Room 106.

This club is designed to welcome new students to the EMS community. Its focus is on meeting new friends and adjusting to life at Eastern. Club includes students new to Eastern Middle School as well as current students who want to help new students.  Sponsored by Mrs. Moore, EMS school counselor. (Meets as needed listen to the announcements) – Location: TBD.

The Student Council Association (SCA) students are those who want to be leaders in their school and community and have voiced their interest in volunteer work and fundraising.  The SCA works alongside the PTA to promote the well-being of the school and the community.  Although the Student Council runs most of the fundraising activities at EMS, we also emphasize service for others.  In addition, the SCA promotes caring and responsibility through our #gatorworthy campaign, which rewards students who have gone above and beyond to be helpful, respectful and kind.  Sponsored by Ms. Cole and Ms. Wax. String Ensemble is an auditioned ensemble for high achieving orchestra students in grades 6, 7, and 8 who demonstrate good playing position, left and right-hand technique, and facility on their instrument. This is an exciting opportunity for students to collaborate with other highly motivated string students in the orchestra program at Eastern Middle School. Sponsored by Ms. Jeraci. (Mondays after school 2:50-3:45PM) - Room 1

Come with friends and play an old favorite or try a new game! The Club meets every Tuesday until late bus in room 206 or 213. Listen for the week's room number in the morning announcements. Sponsored by Mrs. O’Connor and Mrs. Gale.

The Math and Science Clubs are open to any students that are interested in STEM.  We practice activities aimed at preparing students for national competitions in both Math and Science. Listen to the morning announcements for time and date. Sponsored by Mr. Lodato.

Yearbook is open to any student who is interested in contributing to the Eastern Middle School yearbook. Students with ideas on page spreads or who want to volunteer to photograph should email Ms. Badillo at easternmsyearbook@gmail.com. Meetings by appointment only. Sponsored by Ms. Badillo -Room 112

Girls Circle is a structured support group for girls and youth who identify with female development. It is designed to build self-esteem and resiliency and to promote positive connections through group sharing, activities, and games. The group typically meets for a period of 8-10 weeks, once per week during the school day. Sponsored by Ms. Friedman/Facilitated by the YWCA / 6th Grade Girls Circle.
